Assignment 4 (March 30) - Post a Lesson Plan!
Post a brief lesson plan that includes implementation of something you learned ; include differentiation ( for ENL, disability, gifted & talented, etc) and briefly state how this lesson might be adjusted for other grade levels (example: if your lesson is for an elementary grade, how might it be taught at middle school and high school?) Please post this by March 30. Please repond to at least one other plan.

Objective: Be able to respond to art in writing (ekphrasis)
ReplyDeleteMaterials: six pieces of art (I used art that came with our literature series, but you could use art that corresponds to a unit you are teaching), smaller post-it notes, and larger post-it notes.
Procedures:
1. Show students examples of ekphrasis (literature that responds to art). Examples could be Keats' "Ode to a Grecian Urn".
2. Ask students what the poet had to observe to write his poem.
3. Post the art pieces around the room. Break students into six groups. On the small post-it notes, have them post a noun and a verb to describe the art.
4. Have students rotate around the room.
5. Then have students individually create clauses or phrases from the nouns or verbs. Have them write it on the larger post-it notes.
6. In groups, have them combine their post-it notes to create a short poem.
7. Have students revise their poems for clarity.
8. Have students type up their poems and share out.
9. Publish their poems by posting them next to the art.
Assessment: The final group poem.
Differentiation opportunities: You can change the art to reflect a unit of study, you can also ask students to post different types of words instead of nouns to get them going.
